Genband Bid for Nortel VoIP Unit Remains Unchallenged

Genband launched a stalking-horse bid for Nortel's Carrier VoIP and Application Solutions (CVAS) unit just before Christmas. The $282 million bid that could work out to more than $400 million for total cost of ownership has not attracted any further bids thus far.

According to FierceVoIP, should the offer survive the competitive bidding process, Genband plans to keep all product lifecycles for Nortel's products in place. Nortel's CVAS unit has a substantial customer base, which Genband would want to keep happy. The company also plans to expand its operations to Canada and North Carolina while extending employment offers to the majority of Nortel's CVAS employees, Network World reports.
